Join us for an informative and interesting plant propagation workshop. Get your hands dirty and learn the art of propagating plants with expert, Dylan Morrissey, Horticulture Supervisor at the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens.

Discover the secrets behind successful plant propagation and gain valuable skills to grow your own garden. Whether you're a beginner or a green thumb, this event offers a fun and interactive experience for all plant enthusiasts.

During the workshop, you will learn various techniques to expand your plant collection by propagating your existing plants, saving money and extending your garden.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to:

  • Types of propagation – the pros and cons of each type.
  • Basic identification of plants.
  • Choosing what type of propagation for the plants you have.
  • How to identify and collect plant material – this will incorporate a walk around the Moruya library garden (weather dependant).
  • Dividing and cutting demo and practice
  • Looking after cuttings once they are done
  • Potting up/planting out propagated plants.

Our knowledgeable instructor will guide you through the process, providing expert tips and answering any questions you may have.

Each participant will take home their propagated plant.

This is an ideal workshop if you:

  • have an interest in plants and gardening.
  • want to propagate plants.
  • save money and make plant gifts.
  • are aged 12 years or older.

You are welcome to bring cuttings from home if you follow these directions

  • 20 cm long cuttings should be done the morning of the workshop
  • place in a plastics bag, sprayed with water and kept in the fridge
  • bring to the workshop in that afternoon.

About the presenter

Dylan Morrissey has been a Horticulturist for over 12 years, and completed his apprenticeship at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney. Since moving to the Eurobodalla in 2021 for his role as Supervisor at the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden, his passion for native plants and their cultivation has flourished.

His love of plants grew from a multigenerational passion for everything green, from backyard fruit and veg to orchids and everything in between.
